What should a church be all about?
There are many ways to answer - churches can be all about praise and worship, prayer, meeting needs in the community, building relationships and so on. All of these are good things. But there is one thing that stands above the rest:
THE GOSPEL
The Gospel (good news) is the message that Jesus is the Messiah, God’s Son and the promised King, who came to earth to live a perfect life, overcome the powers of evil, rescue us from our sin by dying the death we deserve, and rise again to life with eternal power and glory.
That’s a message everyone needs to hear. How we respond to the Gospel has eternal implications.
This year, we want Liberty to be all about the Gospel. 3 in ’23 is our strategic push to move in that direction.
The idea is simple: everyone at Liberty is responsible for sharing the Gospel at least three times through 2023. First, we’ll share the Gospel in our Life Groups, telling our testimony of how Jesus saved us. Second, we’ll each share the Gospel in our homes - with family members, kids, spouses, parents, or extended family. Finally, we’ll embrace the call to share the Gospel in our community, with someone who does not yet know Jesus.
Romans 10:17 says, “Faith comes by hearing, and hearing through the Word of Christ.” How will anyone hear the Word of Christ unless we go and tell them?
